Humpty Dumpty adds new staff

— Eva Shingle, office assistant, was chosen as Employee of the Quarter at Humpty Dumpty Learning Center for the summer quarter.

Shingle began her tenure at HDLC in March 2009 and has been an asset to the center.

Her duties include office management, day-to-day bookkeeping duties, all correspondence for the center, purchasing supplies, keeping accurate and up-to-date records and licensing documentation.

 She also assists in the nursery and toddlers and 2's classroom when needed. Shingle resides in Fort Ashby, W.Va., with her husband, Ray, and children, Alex, Jake and Steffanie.

 Humpty Dumpty Learning Center welcomed new staff for the fall 2010-2011 school year.

• Melissa Santilli is the teacher of the full day 3-year-old preschoolers. She comes to HDLC from Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in education.

• Robyn Parsons is the teacher for the half-day 3- and 4-year-old preschool students. Robyn recently graduated from Frostburg State University with a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.

 She and her husband are the parents of three children and live in Cumberland.

• Jessica Walker, Mount Savage, is the teacher’s aide in the full day 3’s preschool classroom. She has worked for her family company, Walker Paving, as an office assistant.

• Diana Arnone is the teacher’s aide in HDLC’s new nursery for children ages 6 weeks to 23 months. She has an associate degree in human services and a bachelor’s degree in music education. She and husband Joey are the proud parents of two sons.

  • Students named to Frostburg State University's fall dean's list

    FROSTBURG — The following students from the area have been named to the dean’s list at Frostburg State University in recognition of outstanding academic achievement for the fall 2012 semester. To be eligible, a student must undertake a minimum of 12 credit hours and earn a cumulative semester grade point average of at least 3.4 on a 4.0 scale.

    CUMBERLAND — Allegany College of Maryland graduated 211 students at fall commencement exercises on the Cumberland campus. The graduates earned a total of 249 associate degrees and certificates.

  • Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College confers 104 diplomas

    MOOREFIELD, W.Va. — Ninety individual graduates reaped the rewards of their months and years of college study at Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College’s third annual commencement May 5. Held at the Moorefield Middle School for spring 2012 and fall 2011 graduates the ceremony conferred a record 104 diplomas total.
    Keynote speaker Michael Simmons suggested that at this “pivot point in life,” the graduates should decide between a “path of certainty,” and “a path of faith.”
