During the Christmas Holidays, my wife and I were watching all the holiday movies they have each year on the Hallmark Channel and I stumbled onto a bit of trivia.
Seems the movie “The Wizard of Oz” came out 73 years ago. And it was rather scary to realize that in five months I turn 70.
And I wondered if that movie were made today, what it might be like?
It might be called “The Wizard of Odd.” And it wouldn’t be about little Dorothy of Kansas, but rather little Sarah of Alaska. Little Sarah wouldn’t have a pet dog named Toto, but rather a pet caribou named “Flip Dizzy.”
And should little Sarah encounter a person with no brain, one with no heart, and one with no courage, she wouldn’t be in Oz. She’d be in our present day Republican dominated Congress.

According to the FBI’s uniform crime reports, California had the highest number of gun murders in 2011 with 1,220, which makes up 68 percent of all murders in the state that year and equates to 3.25 murders per 100,000 people.
