Above: Students from Allegany College of Maryland’s leadership development class, from left, Brittany Morgan, Jordan Wilson, Holly Wampler and Kristin Keller, clean the LaVale Fire Hall on National Highway Wednesday morning as part of their class leadership project. At left: Another group of leadership students volunteered at the Ark of Hope Inc., a no-kill animal rescue shelter near Oldtown. From the left are Kim Willison, Jacob Foreman, Katie Graham, Savanna Weller, Sharon Brimhall, Kristen Roudabush and Bethany Bowman. The students cleaned kennels, played with the animals, and gave them food and water. They hope to encourage others to give toys, blankets and donations to the shelter and/or volunteer to help the Care family, who runs the animal rescue.
