Hagerstown sweeps ACM

Christina McCaffey totals 5 hits, fires four-hitter to win 2nd game

CUMBERLAND — Christina McCaffey went 5 for 7 with a home run and four triples to power Hagerstown Community College to an 8-0, 12-2 sweep of Allegany College in a Maryland JUCO softball doubleheader Friday at Cavanaugh Field.

McCaffey was also the winning pitcher in the second game, allowing four hits and striking out five in six innings.

In the opener, Amanda Waltman pitched a three-hit, five-inning shutout with four strikeouts and no walks for the Hawks.

McCaffey had two triples and Chelsea Wolfe two doubles for Hagerstown.

Monica Rosensteel, Tori Shroyer and Jami Norris had singles to account for Allegany’s only hits.

In the nitecap, McCaffey went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and a pair of triples, while Jessie Patey stroked two doubles and Emily Myers two singles for Hagerstown.

Rosensteel tripled and doubled and Martina Kurtz singled twice for the Trojans (2-4), who will host Harford in a 3 p.m. twinbill on Wednesday.
