Frostburg State begins AMCC tourney today

OWINGS MILLS - Katelyn Coffey hurled a complete game and struck out five in a 5-4 win in the opener, and Frostburg State stole the second game in eight innings, 4-3, in a sweep of Villa Julie College in the regular-season finale for the Bobcats.

Coffey allowed just three earned runs in seven innings to pick up he 13th win of the season.

Amanda Baldwin had an RBI single and Kathryn Claeys a two-run double to help FSU erase an early 2-0 Villa Julie lead.

Brooke Tapman had two singles and Lindsay Freitag a triple to lead Frostburg.

In the second game, Kelly Callan pitched all eight innings and allowed only two earned runs in getting the win.

Tied 3-3, Megan Dabkowski brought home Filipowicz with a groundout to give FSU the lead in a seesaw affair.

Freitag and Lindsay Seal had two singles for the Bobcats. Seal had three hits and Kaitlyn Wagner two to lead the Bobcats.

Frostburg State plays Pitt-Bradford today, at Hilbert College, in the first round of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Tournament.
