Potomac State had 10 hits in both games of its doubleheader with Catonsville but ended up dropping both, 3-2 and 11-5, Saturday in junior college softball action.
Catonsville managed just four singles by four different players, but pulled out a 3-2 win in the opener with Sloane Van Meter singling in a run in the third to put Catonsville up 3-0.
Ashley Metcalfe hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning to account for both of the Catamounts’ runs. Ashly Sites had three singles, and Morgan Shockey had two singles.
The game ended in the seventh when Sites tried to score on a Lindsey Twigg single, but was thrown out for the final out of game. Potomac State stranded six runners in scoring position.
In the second game, Lindsey Twigg belted a three-run home run in the first inning to give the Cats a 3-0 lead, but after Catonsville tied the score with three in the third, Desiree Sullivan hit a grand slam in the fourth to send the Cardinals on their way as they pounded out 15 hits and took advantage of two Potomac State errors. Stacy Rouse singled twice and doubled for Catonsville and Van Meter doubled and singled three times.
Michelle Cain, Morgan Mitchell and Sites singled twice for the Cats.
Potomac State (20-12) will host Hagerstown today at 1 p.m.
