LUKE — Frankie Quesenberry has been named Luke Mill Safety Champion for 2009.
Quesenberry works in the mill’s woodyard and has been instrumental over the past two years in implementing an active safety program in that department.
Gary Curtis, Luke Mill manager, made the presentation at a luncheon held in Quesenberry’s honor.
“You have done a great job in helping to get a strong safety program started in the woodyard, and we appreciate your efforts,” said Curtis.
Additional words of thanks and congratulations were offered by Charlie Hartman, wood operations superintendent; Rich Lehmann, woodyard spervisor; and Leon Marple, Luke Mill safety champion for 2008.
“Without Frankie’s help, we would not be where we are today with the woodyard safety program. It is people like him who make the program work. They are not afraid to step up and get involved,” said Marple.
Approximately 30 mill employees, along with members of Quesenberry’s family, attended the luncheon and were on hand to see him presented with a plaque and other gifts in honor of his being recognized.
