February 28, 2010 — LAUREL — A LaVale man has opened the state’s first Jersey Mike’s Sub store in Laurel.
Owner Danny Malamis held a grand opening at the store on Wednesday. In a few weeks, a second Maryland store will open in Germantown. The company’s authentic Northeast-style subs are now available in most major metro markets across the country.
The new restaurant is located at 13600 Baltimore Ave.
With more than 20 years’ experience in the quick-service restaurant and franchise business and with three years as Domino’s Franchise Association CEO, Malamis was selected to introduce Jersey Mike’s to the metro D.C. market.
As part of a long-term business plan, Malamis is also recruiting other franchisees who share his passion for the brand.
“It is important to stay focused on enlisting the right franchisees to represent the Jersey Mike’s brand. Putting together the right franchise team will help the rest fall into place,” Malamis said.
“We are looking for people who share our desire for excellence. Our goal is not to be the biggest, but to be the best — the best employers, the best franchisor, the best sub-makers and deliver the best overall experience.”
Jersey Mike’s is known for its New Jersey-style subs, made “Mike’s Way” with onions, lettuce, tomatoes and a signature blend of olive oil, red wine vinegar and spices. The company only uses private labeled meats and cheeses that are sliced fresh for each sandwich and piled high on in-store baked bread.
