CUMBERLAND — Casey Roberts scored a game-high 31 points to lead five Allegany players in double figures as the Campers outlasted Keyser 97-74 Thursday night at Campobello.
Roberts sank nine field goals and was 12-of-14 from the line to lead third-ranked Allegany.
“He did really well, penatrating, getting to the foul line,” Campers head coach Tedd Eirich said of Roberts’ game-high total. “He’s making his free throws now.” He also had six assists.
The Campers’ Cody Ellsworth scored 20 points with eight baskets and 3-of-5 from the line. Jordan Grady finished with 12 points and Adam Boor and Justin Hymes each scored 10.
Keyser was paced by Preston Hartman’s 21 points and Jeremy Green’s 19. Wes Washington and Matt Wilmer each finished with 12 points.
Allegany’s Grady just missed his typical double-double game with his team-leading nine rebounds. He also had six assists. Hymes had eight rebounds.
Keyser won the jayvee game, 57-54, behind Chris Halbritter’s 14 points. R.C. Pratt scored 13 and Ethan LaRue had 11. Allegany was led by Jake Shade’s game-high 22 points. Steffen Bonnett scored 14 and Brady Ellsworth had 12.
Allegany, 12-2 overall and tied with Mountain Ridge at 8-1 in the Appalachian Mountain Athletic Conference, hosts Southern tonight. Keyser (8-6, 6-5 AMAC) began a four-game road stretch against the Campers. The Golden Tornado visits top-ranked Bishop Walsh tonight, is at Petersburg Saturday and visits Northern Tuesday.

CUMBERLAND — Area scoring leader David Hobel poured in 28 points and second-ranked Mountain Ridge pulled away from Fort Hill in the fourth quarter to remain in a first-place tie with Allegany in the Appalachian Mountain Athletic Conference.
Hobel hit 11 field goals, including five three-point goals, to lead the Miners, now 14-3 overall and 8-1 in the conference. Cody Hovatter added 14 points and Keinen Harper eight.
Jordan Helmick led Fort Hill (4-11, 3-7) with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Devin Lee and L.T. White had eight points each.
Mountain Ridge led by just five, 28-23, at the half, and was up by six, 43-37, entering the fourth quarter.
The Miners outscored the Sentinels 20-9 over the final eight minutes, with Hobel scoring nine of the 20.
Fort Hill won the jayvee and freshman games.
In the jayvee game, Michael Crabtree had 17 points to lead the Sentinels to a 37-34 win. Tyler Whitaker led Mountain Ridge with 12.
The Fort Hill freshmen won 46-41. Zach Godlove had 20 points and Garrett Clay and Ryan Briner nine for Fort Hill, while Connor Eberly had 13 and Caleb Fazenbaker nine for Mountain Ridge.
Both teams play again tonight. Mountain Ridge travels to Northern and Fort Hill hosts Hampshire.

ACCIDENT — Northern went to work at the free-throw line in the fourth quarter, hitting 10 out of 14 attempts, with Thomas Holtschneider going 5-for-6 himself, as the Huskies defeated Frankfort Thursday in an Appalachian Mountain Athletic Conference game at Northern.
Ed Herpel led Northern with 15 points, while Matt Gibson hit for 11 and Thomas Holtschneider 10. Holtschneider also had five assists.
For Frankfort, Logan Wolford and Dusty Myers both scored 13 points, while Travis Myers hit for eight points.
Northern took a 15-6 lead in the first quarter, and held a 28-20 lead at the half. Frankfort, trailing 40-34 after three, had started to mount a run and carried it into the fourth quarter, eventually taking a one-point lead. But it was the Huskies’ efficient free-throw shooting that would put the game on ice in the Igloo.
Northern won the junior varsity game as well.
The Huskies (5-11 overall, 2-7 AMAC) will host Mountain Ridge today, 7:30 p.m. Frankfort (4-11, 3-7) will visit Berkeley Springs on Thursday.

BAKER, W.Va. — Derek Orndorff scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds — both team highs — to lift East Hardy past Moorefield in a Potomac Valley Conference game.
Orndorff hit seven field goals and three foul shots for the Cougars (6-5), who moved a 13-10 first-quarter lead to 30-21 by halftime. They led 39-25 heading into the fourth quarter.
Justin Mathias added eight points and seven rebounds for East Hardy.
Tucker Smith scored 15 points in leading Moorefield.
Moorefield won the jayvee game 32-30. Josh Thorne had 10 points for the Yellow Jackets and Ethan Fansler eight for East Hardy.
The Cougars play again tonight at Paw Paw while Moorefield visits Petersburg on Saturday.
Union 54
Calvary 42
CRESAPTOWN — Jeff Savage, Homer Kuhn and Robbie Buckholtz scored 14 points each to carry Union past Calvary Christian.
Buckholtz also had seven rebounds and two assists, and Kuhn seven rebounds and two steals for Union (4-8). Grant Reed had nine rebounds and four assists, both team highs.
Calvary (4-12) also had balanced scoring, with Billy Dicken getting 12 points and Nathan Riggleman and Brandon Inglish 10 apiece. Ryan McKenzie had eight rebounds and Riggleman three steals.
Union led 30-22 at halftime and 42-33 after three quarters. The Tigers sealed the win with eight big foul shots in the fourth quarter. Reed was 4-for-6 and Buckholtz 3-for-4 from the line in the final period.
Union plays at Tygarts Valley and Calvary takes on Shalom in Chambersburg, Pa., tonight.

HYNDMAN, Pa. — Hyndman rallied to pull within two against Tussey Mountain at 32-30 with five minutes remaining in the third quarter, but Tussey went on a run of its own to pull away and put the game out of reach.
Zach Clites had a double-double for Hyndman, scoring 13 points and securing 10 rebounds. Shane Torbet scored 10 points and added six rebounds.
Hyndman went on an 11-2 run to open the third quarter to pull the score to 32-30, but was outscored 31-6 over the final 13 minutes.
Chamberlain led Tussey with 21 points and Shuke had 10.
Hyndman (2-14) plays Tussey Mountain again on Friday at Tussey.

Friday at Frostburg State University a group of 13 Spartans made some of their own history by making a stand against 15 years of Alhambra Catholic Invitational Tournament frustration, and when Pat Jones’ floater went threw the net with six seconds left, it ended a Bishop Walsh streak that has lasted longer than most of it’s players have known the game of basketball as the Spartans beat St. Benedict’s Prep (N.J.), 61-60, in a drama-filled contest that kicked off Day Two of ACIT action. -
