Chesapeake rolls over ACM

Clyde scores 21 in 89-46 victory; Frederick overpowers PSC

WYE MILLS — Denver Clyde scored a game-high 21 points and Chesapeake expanded on an eight-point lead at halftime to beat Allegany College of Maryland 89-46 Monday in Maryland JUCO action.

Clyde was joined by two other players with at least 10 points as Najah Chambers and Sydney Small both scored 16 points for the Skipjacks.

The Trojans (2-16) were led by two players with 13 points, Monique Rhodes and Mountain Ridge graduate Madi Nightengale.

The Skipjacks were ahead 36-28 at halftime, but clamped down on the defensive end to limit the Trojans to 18 points to lead Chesapeake to its sixth straight win. The school is 15-1 on the year and 10-1 in the JUCO.

Allegany (2-16) hosts Prince George’s on Wednesday.

KEYSER, W.Va. — Potomac State was in a 62-17 hole by halftime of a 56-point loss to Frederick Monday evening in Keyser, W.Va.

Shanika Williams scored a game-high 27 points, Kia Whitley scored 25 points and Jordan Stanhope finished with 19 as the Cougars continued to pull away from the Catamounts. Jasmine Walker added 15 points as four players scored in double figures in the win.

Potomac State was paced by Alexis Steele and Monique McDonald with eight points each. Jenna MacAtee and Allegany graduate Lindsie Linaburg both added seven points. Morgan Wright had six rebounds, five points and three steals for the Cats, and Rachel Waibogha added six rebounds and four points.

The Cats (4-12) play against Garrett at home on Wednesday, 5 p.m.
