Delaware Tech downs ACM

FREDERICK — Antoinette Robertson led three double-figure scorers with 17 points as Delaware Tech handed Allegany College a 73-64 setback on the first day of the Frederick Community College Mixer on Saturday.

Monique Rhodes and JoJo Carr had big games inside for Allegany, both getting double-doubles in points and rebounds.

Rhodes, a 5-foot-11 sophomore forward, had 17 points, hit 9 of 10 foul shots, and grabbed 12 rebounds. Carr, a 6-0 freshman center from Calvary Christian Academy, added 16 points and also had 12 rebounds.

Maddie Nightengale added 12 points, Derica Souder nine and Christina Briscoe eight for the Trojans.

The Trojans (0-3) play Rhode Island Community College today at 1 p.m., at Frederick.

 

Garrett opens season with two victories

OAKLAND — The Garrett women opened their new gym in style with a 61-44 win over Potomac State on Friday and a 101-36 blowout of Butler on Saturday.

Rodrina Thorpe-Sheppard led the Lakers against Butler with 27 points. Janice Bartley scored 21. Terra McKenzie had 20, Shameena Johnson added 11 and Victoria Bonette chipped in 10.

Thorpe-Sheppard was high scorer against Potomac State as well with 15. Bartley added 14 and Johnson 12.

Potomac State was led by Heather Lesniowski with 12 points.

Garrett (2-0) host Westmoreland on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
