LOUISBURG, N.C. — Allegany College roared back from a 20-point halftime deficit to take a lead in the final minute, but Louisburg cashed in on four trips to the free-throw line and pulled out a 62-59 victory over the Trojans Sunday on the second day of the Louisburg Invitational Tournament.
Allegany (3-2) trailed 44-24 at halftime, but stormed all the way back and led 59-58 with 50 seconds to go. But a pair of free throws put the Hurricanes ahead 60-59, and two more made it 62-59 with seven seconds left.
The Trojans got off a three-point shot from the corner that rimmed out at the buzzer.
Dakeea Marshall led Allegany with 17 points, hitting four field goals and 7-of-8 foul shots. Ashleigh Fossett added 11 points, Kim Jones had 10 and Detonia DeGross nine. Larae Allen pulled in 11 rebounds and Marshall and Tyesha Tharpe had eight.
