Koffa leads FSU over Lynchburg

Bobcats hold on for 80-77 win in Virginia

SALEM, Va. — Busha Koffa led five scorers in double figures as Frostburg State downed Lynchburg, 80-77, on the second day of the V-Foundation Classic.

Koffa had 15 points and a game-high 10 rebounds for the Bobcats, who have opened the season with three straight wins. Brian Anderson and Terrance Taylor had 14 points and Jamal Bracken and Nick Sefcik 11. Sefcik also had six assists and three steals.

Steven Echols scored a game-high 22 points before fouling out with two minutes to go for Lynchburg (1-3).

FSU led 74-65 with six minutes left, but the Hornets rallied to tie it 77-77 with 39 seconds remaining. The game was then decided at the foul line. The Bobcats made three foul shots down the stretch while Lynchburg missed a pair.

Frostburg State returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to Pitt-Bradford at 7 p.m.

SALEM, Va. — Nick Sefick scored a game-high 22 points, dished out 12 assists and pulled in six rebounds to power Frostburg State in its rout of Roanoke in the first round of the V-Foundation Classic.

Sefick scored 20 points and hit five three-pointers in the second half, and the Bobcats (2-0) cruised to a 22-point lead late in the game. FSU shot 56 percent from the field (36-of-64) and outrebounded Roanoke (1-1) 51-30. Terrance Taylor added 21 points and a team-high eight rebounds while Brian Anderson had 19 points.

Kendrick Chittock had 16 points and nine rebounds for Roanoke, which shot just 2-for-22 from 3-point range.
