From Staff Reports

CUMBERLAND — Marcel Chesson scored 23 points and Derrell Armstrong added 18 as Allegany College of Maryland defeated Prince George’s 77-58 Friday evening at Bob Kirk Arena.

Allegany took charge from the start, building a 47-25 halftime lead.

“We came out and pressed and we got a lot out of it,” said Allegany head coach Mike Baker. “We held them to 25 in the first half. It was a complete opposite from Wednesday. We came out with more emotion and played harder. We’re making a step in the right direction.”

Chesson made three three-pointers and five two-point baskets and he was 4-of-6 from the line. Armstrong hit eight baskets and made his only free-throw attempt.

Malik Witten, who led the team with eight rebounds, added 10 points. Aaron Brackett had seven rebounds and Chris Gee had eight assists. Troy Vasco had seven blocked shots.

Duane Franklin scored 12 points for Prince George’s (0-4). Eric Coleman added 9 and Kyle Evans had 7.
