VINCENNES, Ind. — A bad end of the first half and a significant advantage at the foul line led Vincennes University to a 74-63 win over Allegany College of Maryland in college men’s basketball Saturday night in the Vincennes Classic.
Damian Garrett and Monty Wilson scored 16 points to lead the Trailblazers. Keith Ford and Ryan Allen added 11.
A poor stretch at the end of the first half led to the Trojans trailing 45-26 at halftime. “The first 15 minutes of the first half we played pretty well,” said ACM coach Mike Baker. “Our press was working well and we did some damage. But the rest of the half, we were terrible.
“We came back out in the second half and cut into the lead, and the guys made a really good standing throughout the half.”
Allegany’s Chris Gee led all scorers with 20 points, and Derrell Armstrong had 11. Aaron Brackett led the team with nine rebounds and Malik Witten had six points and five assists.
A night after having a lack of foul shooting factor into a 61-58 loss to Olney, Allegany was 9-for-13 from the free-throw line. The Trailblazers were 21-of-35.
Now 1-2, Allegany will host Westmoreland on Wednesday in its home opener.

FROSTBURG — Elizabeth Carrington hit the game-winning layup with 21 seconds left to lift Frostburg State over Stevenson in the season opener for both teams.
The Bobcats never led in the second half until Carrington's layup. They trailed by four at halftime and shot 52 percent (11-for-21) from the field in the second half.
Carrington finished with 13 points while Mercedes White made 11-of-14 foul shots and scored a game-high 19 points. Brittany James added 11 points and nine rebounds.
Kristen Steiner had 10 points and 11 rebounds for Stevenson.
Frostburg State hosts Guilford in the opening game of the Jim Crawley Tournament on Friday at 6 p.m.
