FREDERICK — Justin Rodriguez scored 29 points to lead Delaware Tech to a 93-84 win over Potomac State in the opening round of the Goodwill Men’s Basketball Tournament Friday night at Frederick Community College.
Marque Edoard added 18 points and James Pee had 15 for Delaware Tech.
Jordan Brooks and Dalec Cromwell scored 20 points for Potomac State (1-1), with Brooks also getting five assists an two steals. Marcus Quarles had 10 points and Maurice Newby added five and pulled in a team-high 19 rebounds.
Potomac State led 11-2 early on, but went ice cold from the floor later in the half. The Catamounts scored only two points in the final seven minutes, and trailed 38-34 at the break.
Rodriguez and Pee combined to hit 9 of 11 foul shots down the stretch to ice the win for Delaware Tech.
Potomac State plays the loser of last night’s Frederick/TCI game today at 3 p.m.
