Four Nonnenmann/YMCA titles to be decided this Sunday at Baltimore Ave.

Top two seeds of all four divisions play for championship

— CUMBERLAND – The Earl Nonnenmann/YMCA SSBL will crown four champions this weekend at the Baltimore Avenue YMCA. All of the top seeds have advanced to the finals. Championship Sunday will begin at 1:30 p.m.

In the Continental Junior Division final, number one seed St. Luke’s Lutheran will be taking a 13 game win streak into the final game when they play second seed LaVale UMC Jrs. No. 2 with a record of 10-3. St. Luke’s advanced to the title game by defeating number four seed St. Patrick’s JV by a score of 30–13. 

LaVale made it a 10-win season and got a chance at the title by defeating Metro AME Jrs. 26–17. 

In the United Division final, the top seed and undefeated Cornerstone Baptist will take on the No. 2 seed Centre Street UMC Blues (7-6). Cornerstone beat LaVale UMC JRS No. 1 by a score of 31–16 to get into the finals. Centre Street secured their spot in the finals with a 27-1y7 victory over newcomer Mt. Top Holiness. 

In the National Division title game, top seed and undefeated LaVale UMC Srs. will play the second seed St. Paul’s Lutheran Srs (10-3). LaVale advanced by beating St. Ambrose II (4-9) 32-6, while St. Paul’s secured their spot in the finals with a 39-23 win over Lighthouse of Hope Celtics. 

In the last game on Sunday, the American Division final, the top two seeds advanced. The game will feature the top-seed and undefeated Second Baptist and the second seeded St. Patrick’s Varsity. Second Baptist punched their ticket for the finals by topping another newcomer to the league, New Venture Christian Church, by a score of 41-22.  St. Pats advanced to the championship game by downing Metro AME Srs 46-36.
