CUMBERLAND — Kaitlynn Fratz scored 20 points and third-ranked Northern built a big first-half lead and beat Bishop Walsh 72-27 in the regular-season finale for both teams Wednesday evening.
Adria Graham added 11 points, while Megan Wiley and Justine Harvey finished with 10 for the Huskies.
Alice Helmstetter and Abbie Mathews led the Spartans with seven points.
The Huskies worked their way to a 16-6 lead by the end of the first quarter, and spread that to 44-13 by halftime. It was 66-19 aftre three quarters.
“The Northern girls are a class act,” said Bishop Walsh coach Tim Wolfe. “They were never trying to run it up on us. They held the ball as long as a could, and you can’t tell the girls to miss a shot. I wish them nothing but the best in the playoffs.”
Brittany Mallow scored 23 points as Northern won the junior varsity game 45-27. Morgan Ruppenkamp scored eight for BW.
Northern (19-3) earned a first-round bye in the Class 1A West Region playoffs as the No. 2 seed and will host the Fort Hill/Hancock winner on Tuesday.
Bishop Walsh (5-21) will host the Bishop Walsh Girls Invitational Tournament March 12-14.
East Hardy 62
Moorefield 35
KEYSER, W.Va. — Emily Beck and Molly Look helped East Hardy to outscore Moorefield 23-5 during a dominating second quarter that led the Cougars past Moorefield in their Class A, Region 2, Section 2 semifinal.
The Cougars led 16-10 going into the second quarter, but got 10 points from Beck and seven from Look as East Hardy put the game out of reach.
Beck finished with 18 points, dominating inside with 10 rebounds as well. Look scored 13 points after going 6-for-6 from the free-throw line in the third quarter.
The Yellow Jackets were led by Victoria Wright’s 15 points.
The fourth-ranked Cougars (18-5) will play Tucker County in the sectional final at Keyser on Friday. Moorefield finishes the season 9-14.

Musselman 49
Hampshire 33
INWOOD, W.Va. — Nikki Stevenson scored 19 points and Megan Stambaugh scored 16 points to lead Musselman over Hampshire in the Class AAA Region 2, Section I tournament.
Stevenson hit eight field goals, including two three-pointers, while Stambaugh hit seven field goals, including one three-pointer. Musselman was in control from the outset, leading 17-5 after the first quarter, 26-13 at the half, and 34-22 after three.
For Hampshire, which finishes its season 10-13, Cali Alkire hit three three-point goals and had 13 points, three assists and two steals. Rana Conneway had five points, five assists and four rebounds, and Amber Gano had a team-high seven rebounds.
Moorefield 62
Paw Paw 22
MOOREFIELD, W.Va. — Kristen Ball scored a game-high 19 points as Moorefield beat Paw Paw in the West Virginia Class A sectional playoffs.
Kendra Rhodes scored 17 and Blair Goodall added 11 for the Yellow Jackets.
Loren Holliday led Paw Paw with 10 points, seven rebounds and two steals. Sierra Hott added seven points and three steals and Kristin Bradford had seven rebounds to go with five points.
The Pirates finish the season at 6-15.
