ROMNEY, W.Va. — Travis Clower put up a double-double with 22 points and a dozen rebounds, throwing in seven assists as well, as Hampshire knocked off No. 3 Fort Hill 59-53 Saturday in Appalachian Mountain Athletic Conference action.
Clower made eight field goals and went 5-for-9 at the foul line to finish at 22. Logan Hill contributed with 15 points and five rebounds and Dane Heavener had 13 points, four assists and three steals. David Smith added five points to his eight rebounds.
The Trojans outscored the Sentinels 13-6 in the first quarter and were ahead 32-15 at halftime. Fort Hill used a press to battle back to within 42-41 at the end of the third, and led 43-42 early in the fourth before Hampshire went back and front and created a little breathing room.
Fort Hill (7-9, 6-4) was led in scoring by Travis Bush’s 18 points. Dalton Gaus added eight.
The Sentinels jayvees won 43-25 behind 13 points from Jacob Painter. Kris Jackson added 11. For Hampshire, Tyler Andes scored 12 points and Jordan Grace added 11.
The Trojans (7-8, 6-5) host Jefferson on Monday. Fort Hill plays Southern on Friday in Cumberland.

PETERSBURG, W.Va. — In the third meeting between these two teams, in which Moorefield won the first two, Petersburg was able to come out victorious this time around Saturday night in Petersburg.
The entire contest was very tight defensively. Moorefield held a 14-11 margin at the end of the first quarter before Petersburg responded with a 12-0 run to open the second.
The Vikings continued to clamp down on the Yellow Jackets by limiting their shot selection and opening up a 28-18 advantage at halftitme.
Both teams were patient offensively while looking for scoring opportunities and the Yellow Jackets were able to chip into the lead a bit as Petersburg held a 35-29 edge heading into the final quarter.
Garrett Keller made a few key shots for Moorefield in the fourth as Moorefield pulled close. Petersburg’s Marshall Wratchford scored followed by Brian George’s long outlet pass off of a defensive rebound to Grant Shanholtz for a layup that sealed the win.
George led Petersburg with 12 points and 19 rebounds, while Shanholtz scored nine including a couple of three-pointers. Kelson Thorne added seven points. Keller led Moorefield with 11 points.
Petersburg held a 36-23 rebounding edge. Petersburg improves to 7-8 and travels to Keyser on Tuesday.
Moorefield won the junior varsity game 45-41 behind 21 points from Tyler Smith. Brandon Seabolt led Petersburg with 13 points.
