CUMBERLAND — Washington Catholic Athletic Conference champion Elizabeth Seton rebounded from a loss on the first night to cruise to a 79-35 win over Bishop Walsh Friday evening in the second day of the Bishop Walsh Girls Invitational Tournament.
Junior guard Alyssa Albanese led the Lady Roadrunners with 17 points, while Melanie Royster added 14. Jazmine Missouri and Jordan Cager both scored in double figures. Missouri scored 12 points and had six rebounds, and Cager scored 12 points.
Bishop Walsh got eight points and six rebounds from Abbie Mathews, eight points from Abby Wolfe and six points and eight rebounds from Ashley Turnbull.
Seton (23-7) faces St. John’s in the consolation championship today at 2:30. The Spartans (5-19) take on Springside School in today’s first game at 1 p.m.

St. John’s cranked up the defensive pressure in the second half to defeat Springside School in the sixth game of the 16th BWGIT.
A switch to a full court press allowed the Cadets to take a 44-30 lead into the fourth quarter after the third quarter began with a 19-all tie.
St. John’s Nicola Zimmer scored a game-leading 22 points, while Mooriah Rowser had 12 points and eight boards. Sophomore Sydni Epps had 13 points and five rebounds and Stacey Costain had nine points and five rebounds for Springside.
The Cadets (24-7) will play Elizabeth Seton today at 2:30 in a rematch of the WCAC championship. Springside gets Bishop Walsh at 1 o’clock.

Trailing for the majority of the first three quarters, St. Frances took the lead for good with 2:30 to play in the third and continued to pull away for a the win over Seton Keough.
Deanna Harmon and Briana Hutchen each finished with 15 points and six rebounds, and Shatyra Hawks added 11 points.
Seton Keough got 12 points and six rebounds from Achiri Ade. Amber Singletary and Liz Brown each scored nine points.
St. Frances (24-3) will play in the championship game against Archbishop Spalding at 6:15. Seton Keough will play at 4 p.m. when it faces Bishop McNamara.

Archbishop Spalding built a 10-point lead in the third quarter and had to hold off a late charge to beat Bishop McNamara in Friday’s final contest.
McNamara got the score as close as three points with 30 seconds to play in the fourth, but got no closer.
Maggie Morrison led the way for Spalding with a game-high 24 points. Shaquila Curtis scored 16 points, including several free throws in the waning minutes.
McNamara was paced by Taylor Brown’s 16 points. Ashley Miles contributed nine points, and Michea Bryant added eight.
Spalding (23-5) gets St. Frances today at 6:15 in the championship game. McNamara (19-9) will square off against Seton Keough at 4 p.m.
