POTOMAC PARK — Eli Souders belted a triple and single, scored two runs and knocked in two more as Moose Lodge 271 beat Chessie Credit Union 8-3 on Sunday to take the final spot in the Rec League baseball playoffs.
Both teams finished the regular season 9-9 and tied for fourth place in the league. With the win, the Moose earned the No. 4 seed in the playoffs and the right to take on top-seeded WEPCO. The first game of their best-of-three semifinal series is today, at 5:30, at Westernport.
Winning pitcher Zac Steckman doubled and singled, Sam Wilson singled twice and Vinny Foreman had a single and two RBIs for Moose, which erased a 1-0 deficit against Chessie with a five-run third inning.
Steckman went the distance, scattered nine hits and struck out five for the win.
Bender hit a double and two singles while Patton and Farrell had two singles for Chessie.
