OAKLAND — Cork’s Cars weathered a four-run storm by Keyser VFW to come away with an 8-5 win Saturday at Broadford park that advances tit to the Hot Stove Playoff semifinals beginning Monday.
Cork’s (17-7) will play Lakeview Auto Parts in the best-of-three series for the American League Championship with Game One scheduled for Monday, 5:30, at the Hot Stove Complex.
Cork’s took a 2-0 lead in the home half of the second inning, and pushed that lead to 5-0 in the third. Keyser stormed back in the fifth inning, putting four runs on the board to trim the lead down to a run.
The lead grew back to two runs in the bottom of the fifth and to 8-4 in the sixth. Keyser scored its final run in the top of the seventh.
B. Lohr led Cork’s with a pair of singles and one run batted in. L. Cvetnick finished the evening with two singles to go with two runs scored, and L. Ritchie added an RBI single.
For Keyser, L. Robinette had a double and a single, and B. Horner finished with two singles.
