ACM’s rally stuns Garrett

Trojans score 2 in 7th, win 6-4; Lakers visit Cecil today for DH

— FROM STAFF REPORTS

CUMBERLAND — Allegany scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to retake a lead it relinquished in the top half to collect a 6-4 win over Garrett Thursday in the Lakers’ opener.

Catcher Kyle Sanders provided the game-tying hit with two outs in the seventh, and Kasey Clinton gave the Trojans the lead when he scored later on a passed ball.

A.J. Robinson put ACM on the board first when he hit a solo home run in the second inning, and Allegany scored two more runs in the third. Garrett scored all four of its runs in the top of the seventh, before allowing two runs in the home half. Allegany scored its sixth run in the eighth.

Ethan Newton and John Kemmer both had two hits and scored two runs. One of Kemmer’s two hits was a double.

Curtis Harpster pitched six innings and struck out six as ACM’s starter, but Andy Lytle picked up the win throwing two innings in relief.

Luis Hernandez drove in two of Garrett’s runs with a single in the seventh.

“It was a good win for us, but it’s really just nice to be on our home field,” said Allegany coach Steve Bazarnic. “You could tell neither has had a lot of time on the field, but both played well and we are fortunate to beat a good Garrett team.”

The Trojans (3-1) have a doubleheader scheduled at Catonsville for noon on Saturday. Garrett (0-1) will play a doubleheader at Cecil today at noon.
