Mullan’s RBI lifts KMK, 6-5

CUMBERLAND — Jake Mullan scored John Goss on a single in the bottom of the seventh to lift KMK Insurance/Personal Best, 6-5, to a victory over Casselman Valley Wednesday evening at Allegany High School.

Casselman scored two runs with two outs in the top of the seventh to take a 5-4 lead. KMK was able to tie the score in the bottom of the seventh before winning it on Mullan’s single.

Drew O’Neal and Brennan Connelley both went 3-for-4, with O’Neal getting three singles and Connelley getting a double and two singles. Derek Barb collected three singles, and was in control on the mound to the tune of 11 strikeouts.

For Casselman, Garlitz and Smith had two singles each.

It’s the first win of the season for KMK/Personal Best (1-4), who plays again on Friday at Holler Field when it plays Times-News.

Barrelville 2

BEL AIR — John Taylor finished with four RBIs including the final two that forced the 10-run rule in its win over Barrelville Outdoor Club Wednesday at Bel AIr Field.

Taylor hit two doubles and a triple to drive in his runs. It was a double in the bottom of the sixth that enacted the mercy rule. Scott Rice finished with three RBIs and a single, and Cameron Brown and Trevor Korns had two singles each.

Hite kicked off the scoring with a four-run spurt in the first inning. It scored 11 times over the final two innings to close things out.

For Barrelville, Tyler Hetrick hit a double, and Dale Sines added an RBI double.

Taylor struck out seven in five innings to earn the win.

Hite (2-2-1) plays Friday at Bel Air when it hosts Fort Ashby VFW. Barrelville plays Casselman at Dickel Field on Friday.

WESTERNPORT — Jeremy Shingler hit a two-run home run that highlighted a seven-run sixth inning and helped send WEPCO Federal Credit Union to a win over Sweitzer, Simson and Associates Wednesday night.

Marcus McGinnis supplied three runs batted in with a double and a single, and Tom Holtschneider drove in two with a double and a single. Bill Freeman hit a two-run single, and Steven Holtschneider added a double. Adam Stowell had a double and a single, Jordan Dye hit two singles and Justin Shaw had two RBIs on one single. Justin Blubaugh had a single that scored two runs.

Ryan Reddinger and Adam Stowell combined to hold SS&A; to two singles. Derek Taylor and Tim Holler combined for seven strikeouts in the loss.

WEPCO remains unbeaten at 7-0 and will play Monday at Dickel Field against Casselman Valley. Sweitzer, Simson and Associates plays Chessie FCU at Hamilton on Friday.

Fort Ashby VFW 5

SHORT GAP, W.Va. — Times-News scored five times in the top of the seventh to rally for a 6-5 win over Fort Ashby VFW Wednesday evening at Frankfort High School.

Forhest Crass delivered a two-run single in the top of the seventh inning to give the Times-News the lead. Times-News scored first in the top of the second, but Fort Ashby got it back to 1-1 in the bottom of the inning. VFW took the lead when it scored once in the fourth, and then two more times in the sixth.

Aaron O’Rourke added three singles in the win, and Tristan Beyer had eight strikeouts in a complete game.

Ethan Landis hit a solo home run for Fort Ashby during the second inning and Colton Jones hit a double. Brian Forster had 12 strikeouts in a six-inning no-decision.

Times-News (2-3-1) plays KMK/Personal Best at Holler Field on Friday. VFW (3-3) plays Hite Roofing on Friday at Bel Air.
