Fort Ashby VFW sees Spotts in victory

POTOMAC PARK — Cody Spotts pitched a four-hitter with seven strikeouts and one walk as Fort Ashby VFW beat Barrelville Outdoor Club on Friday at Hamilton Field.

Dylan Wagoner doubled, while Spotts and Marcus Weaver had two singles to lead Fort Ashby’s eight-hit attack.

Garrett Dickel two-run double in the fifth to account for the Barrelville runs. Chris Martin also had a double and went the route in taking the loss as he struckout nine.

On Thursday night Barrelville was able to score early, but couldn’t hold on in a 12-9 loss to Chessie FCU. Sam Crowell hit a two-run home run in the first inning, and Nick Logue hit a pair of doubles and a single. Dickel had a double and a single, while Jordan Baker and Aaron Boyer hit two singles and had two RBIs apiece. Derrick Sisk drove in two runs with a single.

Fort Ashby (2-2) will play at Casselman Valley on Monday. Barrelville (0-4) will face Hite Roofing/American Legion Monday at Bel Air Field.

Chessie (4-1) will play WEPCO at home on Monday.
