POTOMAC PARK — North End’s Jerad Fike and Andy Umbel combined to allow four hits and two runs as the Diamond Dogs handed WEPCO its first loss, 7-2, in Game Two of the Rec League finals, tying the series at one game apiece Wednesday evening at Holler Field.
The deciding game of the best-of-three series will be played Friday at the Hot Stove Complex.
North End struck first by scoring three runs in the bottom of the second inning, then scored four runs between the fourth and fifth innings to take a 7-1 advantage. WEPCO scored one run in the third inning and one more in the sixth.
Leading the Diamond Dogs (15-6-1) on offense was Cody Rodeheaver with three singles and one run batted in. Fike, also the winning pitcher, and Patrick Sines added RBI doubles. Catcher Josh Bittinger also knocked in a run with a double and Kyle Rosenberger drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Jesse Lapp added a single.
WEPCO (21-1) got two base hits from Adam Stowell and a single each from Cody Malone and Jacob Miller.
WEPCO opened the series with an 8-4 win on Monday.
