Douthitt powers Hampshire over Frankfort, 11-1

SHORT GAP, W.Va. — Ollie Douthitt hit a grand slam in a five-run second inning as Hampshire rolled past Frankfort, 11-1, in the season opener for both teams on a sunny Wednesday afternoon.

Douthitt’s slam was one of only four hits for the Trojans, who drew eight bases on balls and took advantage of seven Frankfort errors.

Douthitt’s homer in the second came after four walks. Caleb Hill, Brandon Bell and Caleb Pancione had singles to account for the Trojans’ only other hits.

Colby Joiner singled twice and Dalton Brown had an RBI single for Frankfort, which had five hits.

Philip Malick, who allowed one run in four innings, was the winning pitcher in the six-inning game.

Frankfort visits Petersburg and Hampshire hosts Keyser today.
