CUMBERLAND — A.J. Robinson homered in each game as the Allegany College of Maryland Trojans swept a doubleheader from Finger Lakes (N.Y.) Community College Friday afternoon at The Rock.
The Trojans pounded out 26 hits in routing Finger Lakes 17-1 and 13-4. They had 13 hits in each game.
Robinson, who has five home runs in eight games played, homered for the second and third consecutive game. His first — and fourth overall — was a two-run shot in the fourth inning of the first game and the second was a solo home run in the first inning of the second game. Robinson finished with five hits and he drove in five runs.
In the opening game, the Trojans scored six runs in the second inning and nine in the third. A two-run fourth forced the 10-run rule to shorten the game after the fifth inning.
Jon Kemmer scattered four hits in picking up his first win. John Shaffer, Kyle Sanders, Sean Collette and Corey Dorman all had two hits each. Sanders drove in three runs Dorman had two RBIs.
In the second game, Allegany took a 7-1 lead in the bottom of the first inning off of a Shaffer Grand Slam and Robinson’s solo shot. The Trojans put the game away with a five-run third.
Jacob Foreman had three strikeouts and a walk in his complete-game four-hit victory. Of Finger Lakers four runs, only one was earned.
Other hitters for the Trojans were Brandon Schott with three hits, including a double and an RBI; Ethan Newton drove in two runs off of two hits and Cody Blickenstaff had a double and an RBI off of his two hits.
Allegany (6-2) visits Cecil today for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
