OAKLAND — Madigan’s Auto erupted for eight runs in the second inning to erase an early deficit and rolled past East Hardy, 11-1, to win their best-of-three opening round Hot Stove League playoff series on Saturday.
Down 1-0, Madigan’s (15-5-1) sent 12 batters to the plate in the big second inning, which was highlighted by an RBI double by Scott Bittinger and a two-run single by Brian Wildman.
It was more than enough support for Cody Sliger, who scattered six hits and struck out five in the game, which was shortened to five innings by the 10-run rule.
Bittinger finished with a double and single, Wildman and Scott Cooper had two singles, Josh Wotring a double and an RBI and Sliger and Shane Peck RBI singles for Madigan’s, which took the series two games to one.
Korey Foltz went 3-for-3 with a double and two singles and Cody Strawderman was 2-for-2 with a double and single for East Hardy.
Madigan’s faces Cork’s Cars in an all-Garrett County second-round series. Game 1 is Tuesday at Holler Field.
