Oakland Rec team takes pair

OAKLAND — Corey Helbig belted a pair of home runs in the first game and Cody Parsons and Nathan King homered in the second to lead Sweitzer, Simson and Associates to a pair of Rec League wins Sunday afternoon at Southern High.

Sweitzer, Simson (6-4-2) first beat Barrelville Outdoor Club 14-4, then downed Chessie Credit Union 10-3.

In the first game, Helbig smashed a pair of two-run homers and a single and finished with five runs batted in. Derek Taylor doubled, singled and knocked in three runs, and Parsons had a pair of singles in the five-inning game.

Shane Torbet tripled in a run and scored for Barrelville.

In the second game, Parsons hit a three-run homer and drove in five runs, while King belted a two-run homer and single as Sweitzer, Simson had 11 hits in the game and 24 for the day.

Helbig went 3-for-3 with three doubles and three RBIs, Andrew Sisler had two singles and two RBIs and Ryan Sweitzer scored four runs.

King got the win, scattering seven hits while striking out nine.

Sean Fazenbaker and Logan Harden had a pair of hits for Chessie.

Sweitzer, Simson (6-4-2) hosts Personal Best/KMK tonight at Southern.
