Beyer hurls T-N to victory

CUMBERLAND — Tristan Beyer pitched a complete-game 4-hitter, striking out five, and the Times-News broke open a 1-1 game with a six-run bottom of the sixth to beat the Fort Ashby VFW, 7-1, Wednesday at Allegany College of Maryland.

Fort Ashby scored its only run in the sixth inning when Cody Spotts led off with a double and scored on a single by Cody Weese.

Then in the bottom of the sixth, the Times-News scored six runs as Zach Ward led off with an infield single, followed by a bunt single by Aaron O’Rourke. Ward went to third on a flyball by Beyer, and then scored on a single by Jacob Foreman. The Times-News scored five more runs on singles by Forhest Crass, Chris Kendall, Nick Corbett, a passed ball and an error.

Fort Ashby VFW (5–9) hosts Hite Roofing today at Frankfort High School. The Times News (5-5– 1) plays Personal Best/ KMK today at Allegany High School.

Sweitzer, Simson 3

OAKLAND — WEPCO continued to roll on Wednesday night with a victory over Sweitzer, Simson and Associates at Southern Garrett High School.

At the pate for WEPCO, Ben Russell had two singles, Jeremy Shingler an RBI single and Adam Stowell and RBI double. On the mound, Stowell worked the first six before giving way to Steven Holtschneider in the seventh.

Reese Duncan singled twice and knocked in a run for Sweitzer, Simson and Associates, and Cody Parsons singled twice and had an RBI.

WEPCO (13-1) will play Personal Best/KMK Wednesday at Westernport.

Casselman Valley 5

SALISBURY, Pa. — Derek Barb and Kevin Hupe blasted home runs and KMK/Personal Best erupted for 10 runs in the sixth inning in beating Casselman Valley Wednesday night.

A scoreless tie through three innings ended when Barb hit a two-run homer in a five-run fourth. Hupe hit a three-run shot in the fourth, helping KMK/Personal Best (5-6) build a 9-0 lead.

Drew O’Neal went 3 for 5 with a double and two singles and winning pitcher Chandler Tomlinson and Brady Ellsworth added a double and single for KMK/Personal Best. Hupe finished with a homer and double, and Brennan Connelley had a pair of singles.

Ryan Vogt tripled and singled, Ryan Miller doubled and singled and Alex Smith singled twice for Casselman Valley.

KMK/Personal Best (5-6) plays Times-News today at Allegany High.
