HYNDMAN, Pa. — Josh Crawford faced the minimum of 21 batters and was a hit batter away from perfect Thursday evening when he no-hit previously unbeaten Hobo’s in Culver Design Build’s 3-0 win.

Crawford needed just 68 pitches to get through the seven innings, and struck out six along the way. He walked no one, but hit the second to last batter he would face on the foot to break-up the perfect game. The hurler was picked up the very next play by his defense with a 4-6-3 double play that ended the game and kept Crawford at the minimum number of batters he could face.

Culver, who got all of the runs it needed with a pair in the first, got a RBI double from Trevor Largent. Crawford also delivered a single in helping his cause.

Hobo’s falls to 8-1 with the loss.

Culver (14-1) plays again on Monday when it plays the Fort Ashby Lions at Frankfort High School.



Bill Miller 7

Salisbury 6

ELLERSLIE — Despite getting four less hits and committing twice as many errors, Bill Miller was resourceful enough to pull out a one-run win over Salisbury Thursday evening in Ellerslie.

The teams traded three-run halves of the first inning, and Salisbury took a one-run lead in the second. The score moved to 5-3 in the top of the fourth, but Bill Miller got a run back in the bottom half. It would finally take the lead with three runs in the fifth.

Chris Ranker led the winners with a pair of singles.

For Salisbury, Aaron Broadwater hit a double and a single. Cody Dise, Alex Beiler and Doug Foy all had two singles.

Bill Miller (6-5) plays the Cresaptown Eagles tonight at Bel Air.



Madigan’s Auto 7

Moran’s Lawn Care 1

BARTON — Madigan’s Auto scored six runs in the second inning to take a commanding lead, and Scott Bittinger pitched a strong seven innings in a win over Moran’s Lawn Care Thursday at Barton Meadow Field.

Bittinger recorded six strikeouts, walked none and allowed no earned runs in a complete game. He allowed four hits, three of them singles. He helped himself at the plate by hitting a two-run double during the second.

Brooks Waybright, Josh Wotring and Nathan Lonegest all finished with a double. Tristen Nazelrod and Shane Peck each added a single and two RBIs.

Moran’s got a double and a single from Bradley. Mills struck out five in four innings, but was tagged with the loss.

Madigans is now 11 1/2-3 1/2, and will play at Broadford Park on Wednesday when it faces Cork’s Cars.



Barney’s Drywall 17

Frostburg Legion 7

POTOMAC PARK — Matt Propst and Nate Souders had eight of Barney’s Drywall’s 17 hits in their victory over Frostburg Legion Thursday evening at Hamilton Field.

Propst, who started and pitched the first two innings, had two triples, two doubles and a base hit. He scored four runs and drove in one. Souders had five RBIs off of two doubles and a single. Timmy Winters had two hits and two RBIs.

Propst, Vinny Foreman and Darrell Lavin combined to limit Frostburg Legion to six hits. Drew Wilhelm led the Legion with two triples, Alex Whetzel had two base hits and Matt Beeman doubled.

Barney’s (7-7) hosts Hartley’s Pizza Monday in Flintstone.

Young’s/Optimist 7

POTOMAC PARK — Kendall Kennell and Brandon Kimble combined for a four-hitter and 12 strikeouts in KMK’s win over Young’s/Optimist in six-inning game at Holler Field.

Kennell struck out five over the first three innings and Kimble fanned seven over the final three.

Kennell and Bryan Kimmell had two singles to lead the offense for KMK, which scored eight runs in the first inning.

Brody Mackert doubled for Young’s Optimist.

KMK Insurance (5-9) will play American Insurance on Tuesday at LaVale Lions Field.



Kiwanis 11

Frostburg 1st United 1

FROSTBURG — A 2-0 score exploded wide open in the top of the seventh inning when Kiwanis scored nine times and would wind up with a big win over Frostburg First United Thursday evening.

Matthew Stansbury allowed only one run, two walks and got 11 strikeouts in the complete game win. He also led the team at the plate with a triple and four runs batted in. Zach Steckman drove in a pair with a triple and a single, and Parker Judge knocked in one with a double and a single.

Dan Streitbeck had five strikeouts for First United in the loss.

Kiwanis improves to 6-7 and will try to even its record when it plays Rotary at Holler Field on Tuesday.



SB&T; 10

Keyser Moose 7

KEYSER, W.Va. — Garrett Keller blasted a pair of triples and knocked in three runs to lead Stewart, Barr & Thorne past Keyser Moose on Wednesday at John Kruk Field.

Shawn Brown added two singles and scored three runs, Chris Kessel had two singles and Joe McNeill a single and three RBIs for SB&T;, which led 9-1 after 3 1/2 innings.

Zach Johnson had a single, two runs scored and an RBI and C. Shoemaker a single and two RBIs for Keyser Moose.

The game was shortened to six innings by the 2:15 time limit.

SB&T; plays Culver Design on Wednesday at Hampshire.

OAKLAND — Shane Peck singled home Brian Wildman with one out in the bottom of the seventh for the game-winning run to give Madigan’s Auto a walk-off win over D&D; Homes Tuesday night.

Jacob Taylor added an RBI double for Madigan’s, and Brooks Waybright and Garrett Hoffman each added an RBI single.

Dylan Reddinger had two doubles and two RBIs for D&D.; Jay Wilson, Jarred Wilson and Logan Dye had two singles apiece, and Dye had an RBI.

Jay Wilson had eight strikeouts in a complete-game loss, and three Madigan’s pitchers combined for eight strikeouts and no walks.
