Donald L. “Fish” Fisher [Cumberland]


CUMBERLAND — Donald L. “Fish” Fisher, 81, of Cumberland, passed away Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at the Golden Living Center, Cumberland.

Born Feb. 9, 1928, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Arthur I. and Lelia H. (Twigg) Fisher. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Arthur F. Fisher, Albert L. Fisher, Charles R. Fisher and Howard Fisher.

Mr. Fisher was the former president and general manager of Allegany Bowling Corp. at White Oaks. He was a graduate of Fort Hill High School, member of Emmanuel-Bethel United Methodist Church, and Bowling Proprietors Association of America, where he was a former member of the Board of Directors. He was also a member of the Maryland Bowling Proprietors Association, where he was former vice president.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. JoAnn (Swihart) Fisher; two sons, Terry L. Fisher, of Winchester, Va., and Donald R. “Rick” Fisher Sr. and wife JoAnn, of Winchester, Va.; one granddaughter, Jessica L. Fisher; one grandson, Donald R. Fisher Jr.; and one sister, L. Rayetta Coleman and husband Ronald, of Hagerstown.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, (scarpellifuneralhomes.com) on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Wayne R. Turner officiating.

Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Park.
