On Dec. 11 in the Times-News editorial section, I was glad to read where John Rue of Frostburg told how the underneath section of the Oldtown toll bridge was built (“Oldtown bridge a lot tougher than most people think it is”).
My late husband helped to build that bridge from day one, and he said many times he wouldn’t be afraid to drive a locomotive across the bridge.
I for one would hate to see that bridge closed. The people that have lived their entire life on the West Virginia side know how important that bridge is to the Green Spring community and surrounding area.
It could be life-saving for us with the Oldtown ambulance being able to get here within minutes.
No one is forced to cross that bridge, and if it would be made toll free, would it be safe enough to cross?
