LaVale Dry Clean site of tour, lecture on Saturday
LAVALE — The LaVale Dry Clean and Shirt Salon is being recognized during the Best of the MidAtlantic Association of Cleaners tour and lecture Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Owner Mike McKay serves as chairman of the association and has operated the LaVale business for the past 12 years, expanding it from four to 36 employees and increasing the gross income by five times.
Following several years executing his first stage plan with drop stores throughout Western Maryland and the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, he was able to buy his first CRDN franchise and get into the profitable fire and smoke restoration business. McKay provided services to all areas of the Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia Allegheny region.
His second CRDN franchise covered the Pennsylvania Allegheny territory south of Pittsburgh and into the northern West Virginia panhandle region around Wheeling. All his production is done in the original LaVale plant and he leased warehouse space in Cumberland to store the customers’ work and do some of the specialty cleaning.
A GPS truck tracking system and a bar code tagging system will be the topics of Saturday’s seminar.
