WESTERNPORT — Former Westernport resident Kenneth Nine, of Temple, Texas, recently shared with his family members a feature story published by the Temple Daily Telegram about his memories during the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Nine served with James Jones, the author of “From Here to Eternity.”

The Lonaconing native was a police officer in Westernport before he moved to Texas in the 1980s.

His nephew James Newlon is a Westernport resident.
