Leah Hoffman dances in the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy as she rehearses for the Appalachian Ballet Theatre Dance Ensemble’s upcoming presentation of the holiday favorite, “The Nutcracker” at Allegany College of Maryland, Cumberland. “‘The Nutcracker’ is a wonderful ballet for the entire family, and is the perfect way to ring in the holiday season and to introduce children to the power and beauty of classical dance. For more than 100 years, the story of the ballet has proven irresistible to both children and adults alike,” said Beth Hoffman, artistic director for the ensemble.
