You can help Frostburg to glow for the holiday season

It’s that time of year again in Frostburg. In the dark of the night, the elves have been mysteriously wandering about, decking the lampposts with home-made greenery.

They’ve been busy during the off-season. Extra lights, new bows, and a live Christmas tree have been added this year. When all is ready, our little town will again be glowing during the holiday season.

What makes this truly special, in addition to our dedicated elves, is the fact that our citizens, in a struggling economy, have assisted financially to make this all possible. The House and Garden Club of Frostburg turns the beautiful fair-weather flower baskets into overflowing fresh pine baskets complete with lights and bows.

The elves are assisted by Frostburg State University students, the city of Frostburg, and members of the community to miraculously raise up and attach these halo wreaths. This all falls into place because our little town cares enough to put the puzzle pieces together.

So this year, when you are meandering up Main Street in the evening and thinking just how nice those lampposts look, remember that they are an elfin labor of love: a gift from those who care in celebration of community spirit. If you care to honor their efforts, feel free to send a tax-deductible gift to the Lamppost Fund or the Margaret Beall Beautification Fund.

Checks can be made payable to the Foundation for Frostburg, P.O. Box 765, Frostburg, MD 21532. Official donation forms can be printed from the Foundation Webs ite www.foundationforfrostburg.org.

A gift to your community in honor of a friend or in memory of a loved one is the gift that gives twice. From the elves and all of their assistants, enjoy!
