Janie Taylor from the Union Resue Mission in Cumberland prepares bacon for her green bean recipe Wednesday afternoon as she begins to cook for the mission’s annual Thanksgiving dinner. The meal is open to the public at no charge from 1 to 3 p.m. with nearly 100 people expected. Eight volunteers are helping Taylor prepare the traditional turkey, ham and pork with all the trimmings. Taylor has served in the mission since 1963 when it opened. Today is her 81st birthday.
