Charles L. Wilkinson Sr. [Cumberland]
CUMBERLAND — Charles Lester Wilkinson Sr., 67, of Cumberland, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, on the family farm in Pendleton County, W.Va.
Born Sept. 19, 1942, in Cumberland, Mr. Wilkinson was the son of the late Ralph Wilkinson and Thelma V. (Hall) Wilkinson-Warner and his stepfather, Sam Warner. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Guy Wilkinson and Brooks B. Warner Jr.; and a sister, Janet Robinson.
A United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War, Charles retired from the Kelly-Springfield Tire and Rubber Company.
He is survived by his sons, Charles L. Wilkinson Jr. and his fiancée Penny Caballero, West Palm Beach, Fla., Robert A. Wilkinson and his fiancée Betty Jane Kerlavage, Short Gap, W.Va., and James M. Wilkinson and his wife Chantel, Carpendale, W.Va. Charles is also survived by his former wife, Barbara Snyder and her husband Alan, Cumberland; his sisters, Sharon J. (Wilkinson) Solt-Van Horne and her loving friend Robert Dietrich, Chesapeake, Va., and Sally L. Warner and Bob Wolfe, Ellerslie; his grandchildren, Barbara Jean Wilkinson, Private First Class Charles L. Wilkinson III, on duty with the United States Marine Corps stationed in Yuma, Ariz., Bianca M. Wilkinson, Kara M. Wilkinson and Katelyn B. Wilkinson; as well as his great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Faith.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Pastor John L. Klink officiating.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 172 Honor Guard.
Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.
