PIEDMONT, W.Va. — James Lillian Brooks, 87, formerly of 48 Erin St., Piedmont, and most recently of Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home, passed away Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland, Md.
Born Sept. 21, 1922, in Piedmont, she was the daughter of the late Forrest and Lillian Price. Her husband, Clifton S. Brooks; a daughter, Lenora Ryan; a great-granddaughter, Lacy Twyman; a brother, William C. Price; and seven sisters, Vandella Taylor, Louise Wall, Estella Franklin, Frances McKinney, Ruby Terry, Laura Clay and Dorothy Coleman, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Brooks was retired from Westvaco Corporation, having worked at the Club House. She was a member of Walden United Methodist Church, Piedmont, and a member of the former Aubrey and Robert Stewart V.F.W. 5957 Ladies Auxiliary, Piedmont.
She leaves behind three daughters, Sylvia Hill and husband Gregory of Piedmont, Debbie Twyman of Piedmont, Ruby Campbell and husband William of Alexandria, Va.; three sisters, Ida Gulliver of Yonkers, N.Y., Theresa Coleman of Indianapolis, Ind., and JoAnn Coleman of Yonkers. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Dawn Hill of Morgantown, Jay Twyman of Morgantown, Belinda Robertson of Miami, Fla., B.J. Twyman of Keyser, Candice Ryan and Michael Ryan Jr., both of Woodbridge, Va., Janay Campbell, Cameron Campbell and Jaquan Johnson, all of Alexandria; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, Md., on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Bart Thompson and the Rev. Harry Coleman officiating.
Interment will be in Thorn Rose Cemetery, Keyser.
