Keyser Sheetz robbery suspect quickly arrested

Accused lives ‘right behind’ store

KEYSER, W.Va. — Store surveillance cameras and unspecified evidence at the scene led to the arrest of a 30-year-old Keyser man Monday in connection with an alleged robbery of the Sheetz convenience store on South Mineral Street.

Joshua L. Redman, 30, of Carskadon Road was charged with first-degree robbery when Keyser Police executed a search warrant at his residence at about 7 a.m., just four hours after the Sheetz store reported being robbed. Redman’s residence is reportedly located “right behind” the Sheetz store, Keyser Police said.

Redman remained jailed Monday afternoon at the Potomac Highlands Regional Jail in Augusta on $50,000 bond set by a Mineral County magistrate.

Police said at 2:55 a.m. officers responded to the Sheetz store where employees said they were robbed by a man wearing a dark-colored hooded shirt and a bandana covering his face. He reportedly had his hand in his pocket and appeared to be pointing a weapon when he demanded a clerk to give him money from the register. The victim complied before the man ran from the area with an undisclosed sum of money.

Police were on the scene within a minute of receiving the complaint and investigation led to police seeking search and arrest warrants for Redman.

Officers responding to the 400 block of Carskadon Road arrested Redman there without incident. Articles of clothing allegedly worn by the suspect during the incident were discovered during the search along with money taken during the alleged robbery, police said.
