CUMBERLAND — George Charles Hansrote, 78, of Cumberland, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born Dec. 11, 1930 in Cumberland, Mr. Hansrote was the son of the late Charles Wetzel Hansrote and Edith Marguerite (Davis) Hansrote. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sarah (Poling) Hansrote.

A graduate of Fort Hill High School, George was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and retired from the Chessie System.

George is survived by his brother, Ronald D. Hansrote and wife Joan, Henderson, Nev.; his nephew, Gregory C. Hansrote and wife Pamela, Kevil, Ky.; and his great-nephews, Scott and Sean Hansrote.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m.

A graveside service will be conducted at Sunset Memorial Park on Friday, Nov. 27, 2009 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Dan Taylor officiating.
