CUMBERLAND — Deborah A. Welsh, 53, of Cumberland, passed away Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at the University of Maryland in Baltimore.
Born Aug. 2, 1956, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of Marvin Amos Collins Sr. and the late Ianes Mae (Sulser) Collins.
Mrs. Welsh was employed at Devlin Manor Nursing Home where she achieved many awards. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She dearly loved her family and her holiday gatherings with them. Her favorite hobbies were walking, bicycling, camping, quilting, swimming and watching “Dancing with the Stars”. She had many, many friends. Her grandchildren were everything to her. She was looking forward to a happy retirement with her husband Tommy, the love of her life. There are no words to express our love for her. She will sadly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving, in addition to her father, are her husband of 35 years, Thomas David Welsh I; two daughters, Christina Ann Johnson and husband Jeff, of Cumberland and Shelly Renee Minnick and husband Bill, of Cumberland; one son, Thomas David Welsh II and wife Sarah Beth; father-in-law, Tom Schaller, of Ridgeley, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Bethany Nicole Johnson, Sierra Renee Minnick, Logan Michael Johnson, Hannah Minnick, and Alice Ann Welsh; Dorothy Welsh and the late Raymon Welsh; three sisters, Linnie Crites and husband Joe, Brenda Shroyer-Collins and special friend, Willard Ross, Donna Bridges and husband Pat and three brothers, Marvin Collins Jr. and his children, Erika and Candace Collins, Russell David Collins and fiancé Brenda Buckley, and Roger Dale Collins, his daughter, Alyssa Collins and his son Brandon McRobie; special friends, Sherry Burns and Pat Keifer-Welsh; two brothers-in-law, Gary Welsh and wife Tammy and Charlie Welsh and wife Ginger; three sisters-in-law, Sandy Harris and husband Roger, Dolly Dugan and husband Brian, and Diane Smith and husband Jimmie and numerous nieces and nephews whom she doted on affectionately.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, scarpellifuneralhomes.com on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Larry Green officiating.
Interment will be beside her loving mother in Sunset Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Randy Welsh, Little Charlie Welsh, Jesse Welsh, Jimmie Smith, Joe Bridges, and Phillip Bridges. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Burns, her special nephew, Dustin Collins, Jason Welsh, and Sean Welsh.
Deborah was an organ donor. She was able to donate her kidneys and liver to help save the lives of three people.
