MOUNT SAVAGE — Edwin H. “Doc” Gillis, 77, of Mount Savage, went to be with his wife, Jacqueline Jo, in eternity on Friday, Nov. 20, 2009.
Born Dec. 14, 1931, in Fairmont, W.Va., he was the son of the late Edwin H. Gillis Sr. and Vivian (Thompson) Gillis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Jo (Helmick) Gillis on May 15, 2009.
Mr. Gillis was a retired schoolteacher for the Allegany County Board of Education, teaching art for 37 years at Mount Savage High School. He was a United States Air Force veteran serving in England. He was past president of the Mason Dixon Lions Club at Mount Savage. He enjoyed golfing.
Surviving are two daughters, Ann Frost and husband Jack, of Frostburg, and Debra Frankenberry and significant other William Kipe, of Mount Savage; son Joseph Gillis and wife Doris, of Barton; brother James Gillis and wife Rhunell, of Lynchburg, Va.; grandchildren Michael Frost and wife Stephanie, of Frostburg, Douglas Frost and wife Courtney, of Lonaconing, Stephen Frost, of Frostburg, Erin Wolfe and husband Shane, of Odenton, Erik Frankenberry, of Cumberland, Caitlin Gillis, of Barton, and Christian Gillis, of Barton; great-grandchildren Kelton, Cheyenne, Logan, Lane, Makayla, and Austin.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, scarpellifuneralhomes.comon Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. George Harpold officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
