KEYSER, W.Va. — Velma A. Parish, 88, of Keyser, W.Va., died Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at her residence.
Born on April 11, 1921, at Luke, she was a daughter of the late Noah B. and Ethel Naomi (Whitacre) Rohrbaugh. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Parish, on April 30, 1983; two sisters, Pearl Rogers and Dorothy Leatherman; two brothers, William “Babe” Rohrbaugh and John Rohrbaugh; a great-grandson, Owen Parish and a daughter-in-law, Diana Parish.
Mrs. Parish was a homemaker and was formerly employed at the Westvaco Luke Mill and the Royal Restaurant. She was Methodist by faith.
Surviving are seven sons, Charles W. “Chuck” Parish and fiancee, Judy Bowman, James Edward Parish and wife Carol, Richard Lee Parish and special friend Dawn, Stephen R. Parish and wife Sandi, William A. Parish and wife Darlene, Robert D. Parish and wife Diane and Michael D. Parish and wife Doris, all of Keyser; one sister, Janis Rohrbaugh; and four brothers, Cecil, Allen, Alvin and David Rohrbaugh, all of Keyser. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one stepgrandchild and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at 11 a.m.
Interment will be in the Cabin Run Cemetery, Keyser.
