CUMBERLAND — Thelma LaVern Huff, 89, of Cumberland, passed away Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at her home.
Born Jan. 14, 1920, in Cumberland, Mrs. Huff was the daughter of the late William Leader Mower and Ida May (Brant) Mower. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest D. Huff; two brothers, Leroy Mower and John Harris Mower, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Thelma retired from the Allegany County Board of Education. She was a member of the Central Assembly of God Church where Thelma was very involved in many activities with her church family especially participating in the church choir and their Easter Egg fund-raising projects. A devoted Christian, she met everyone with a loving, caring smile and was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Thelma is survived by her sons, James E. Huff and his wife Vada, of Cumberland, and Ernest D. Huff, of Madison, Conn.; her daughter, Cindy S. Stafford and her husband Daniel, of Cumberland; her grandchildren, Elizabeth S. Wotring, Matthew Wotring, Sharon R. Kline and her husband, Scott, all of Cumberland, and Noel P. Beeghly and her husband David, of Falling Waters, W.Va.; and her great-grandchildren, James, Zachery, and Jacob Kline.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted in the Central Assembly of God Church on Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Larry Green officiating. The family will also receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the exceptional caregivers, Kay, Nancy, Sissy, and Yvonne, and the wonderful assistance of the WMHS Home Hospice services.
