BEAVER, Pa. — Leroy E. “Buddy” Friend, 73, of Beaver, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009 at his home.

Born Aug. 8, 1936 in Sang Run, Md., he was the son of the late Ralph and Susan (Wharton) Friend. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence.

Mr. Friend was a member of Oak Grove Church of the Brethren, McHenry. He was the owner of Friend Pontiac, Buick & GMC Truck, Beaver. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of the V.F.W. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann (Turner) Friend; two sons, Jeffrey Friend, Chippewa Twp., Pa. and Leroy Friend Jr., Brighton Twp., Pa.; two daughters, Leigh Anne Kovach, Beaver and Sandra Kay Friend, Brighton Twp.; one brother, Dr. Ronald E. Friend, Columbia, Md.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Oak Grove Church of the Brethren, McHenry, on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Services will be conducted in the Oak Grove Church at 1 p.m. on Saturday with the Rev. Donald Matthews officiating.

Interment will be in the church cemetery. Military graveside rites will be accorded by area veteran’s service organizations.
