Emory Royce Donahoe [LaVale]

LAVALE — Emory Royce Donahoe, 71, of LaVale, formerly of Flintstone, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009 at the WMHS-Braddock Campus.

Born Aug. 12, 1938 in Beans Cove, Pa., Mr. Donahoe was the son of the late Marcellus Donahoe and Dorothy Leota (Perdew) Donahoe-Clingerman and the stepson of the late Dorothy Mae (Marvin) Donahoe. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Carol Donahoe; and a nephew, Jeffrey Hout.

A United States Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict, Royce worked as a homebuilder with his father, Donahoe Home Builders, then at Pittsburgh Plate and Glass Industries and retired from Kelly Springfield Tire Company in 1999 with 32 years of service. He then worked four years with FEMA after which he drove a school bus for two years and drove cars for Queen City Motors. Royce coached Little League Baseball and JCP Soccer and varsity teams in the Flintstone area for 33 years.

Royce is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sandra “Sandy” (Mason) Donahoe; his sons, Royce M. Donahoe, Frederick and Brian K. Donahoe and wife Tammy, Smithsburg; his sister, Rita Hout and husband Bill, Cumberland; and his special grandsons, Mark A .Donahoe and Jesse D. Donahoe. Royce is also survived by his mother-in-law, Esther A.P. Mason; his sisters-in-law, Esther L. Mallow and husband Cletus and Roberta S. Jordan; his brother-in-law, James J. Mason Jr.; his nephews, Steven Hout and wife Lisa, all of Cumberland; and Darrell Hout and wife Beth, and their children, Lindsey and Brian Hagerstown; and his nieces, Emily and Alison Jordan, Amy Davis and husband Jason and their daughter, Abigail, all of Cumberland.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, MD, AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com on Thursday, Nov.19, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, Nov. 20, 2009 at noon with the Rev. Fred Iser officiating.

Military honors will be accorded by the Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.

Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.

Pallbearers will be Paul Perdew, Paul Schry, Charlie Hatfield, Jerry Chambers, Gary Barmoy, Cletus Mallow and Anthony Laing.
