Melvin Douglas “Doug” Davis Sr. [Oakland]

OAKLAND — Melvin Douglas “Doug” Davis Sr., 70, of Oakland, died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

Born July 1, 1939, in New Port News, Va., he was the son of the late Donald and Gladys (Larson) Davis.

Mr. Davis retired from Ford Motor Company and was an Army veteran of the Korean war.

Surviving are his wife, Frances Loraine “Susie” (Lewis) Davis, of Oakland; three sons, Melvin D. Davis Jr., Brian Davis and wife Holly Davis, and Shane Patrick Davis and girlfriend Cathy, all of Oakland; half brother Steve Larson, of Virginia, one sister, Carole Purdam, of Virginia; and 5 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. Second St., Oakland, on Friday, Nov. 21, 2009, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Roger Kitzmiller officiating.

Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
